Superhero/Action Figure Beginner Lesson 1

This lesson is great for special needs children who are learning basic drawing skills.  Many of my students love comics and video games.  This has been a great place to get them experimenting.  This lesson teaches how to create a superhero/action figure.  It introduces techniques for using watercolor pencils, drawing in features on a face and creating masks.  It contains a face template, mask template and a worksheet to help artists create an identity for their character (a great way to increase writing skills).  It also includes a tips sheet, lesson plan and adaptive approaches for breaking down and teaching each step of the project.  Lessons are designed to be easy to teach!  This lesson can be taught in a group or as an individual lesson.

This lesson is great for:

  • Teen and tweens learning basic drawing skills.
  • Kids interested in comics and video games.
  • Kids who may be resistent to creating art in other genres.

This lesson teaches:

  • Techniques for using watercolor pencils.
  • How to draw in features on a face.
  • How to draw masks.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills through developing characters.
  • How to use imagination.
